I have lived in Zihuatanejo eleven years and have never been robbed, shortchanged or even thought to worry about where I left my personal belongings.

Zihuatanejo exists on tourist dollars and you can for the most part feel perfectly safe where-ever you go. However, the question of mis-representation of properties or services comes up for travelers anywhere in this world. I would like you have know your consomer protection resources exist VERY strongly in Zihuatanejo, so that you feel comfortable making a booking in the accommodation of your choice.

Ask about the place you want to rent on the two Zihuatanejo message boards. They each have big archives which you can explore to read about properties. Be sure you post your question and review each of the two sites. Look for a consensus from previous visitors.
