Rustic House at Playa Blanca, Zihuatanejo Mexico

Rustic House on Playa Blanca, Zihuatanejo, Mexico

Dear Leigh

Jim and I had a wonderful time at Playa Blanca house!  It was exactly what we were hoping to find -- peace and quiet, a long empty beach, and warm lazy days.  We thoroughly enjoyed walking on the beach for miles, swinging in the hammock, and even testing our cooking skills in the ourdoor kitchen.  Jim got quite good at starting the fire, in fact.  We also ate out a few times at the small restaurants on the beach that are just a few minutes' walk away.  One day, while enjoying cerveza and guacamole outside, we even experienced an earthquake ("un tremblor")!  We spent an afternoon in Zihua and enjoyed visiting the town, but really preferred being out at Playa Blanca.  We also went to Barra a couple times, and hired a boat to take us snorkling.  Irma and her husband took very good care of us (I think they were staying at his brother's new house next door).  We also were grateful for the help of Magdaleno and his wife, on the premises.

We really had a great time, and hope to return sometime in the not-too-distant future.

Thanks so much for your assistance with the arrangements.

Margaret

A Vacation Rental for Those who want to "go back to nature"

Two bedroom home sleeps One to Five

This is the view from the long veranda outside this rustic two bedroom home. This type of getaway typical of the middle class in Zihuatanejo.

When you walk along this 24 kilometer long beach south of Zihuatanejo, don't expect to encounter anybody except a fisherman or farmer. This propery is about midpoint along the beach, which has three names. The section closest to town is Playa Larga, this section is Playa Blanca, and the southern portion is Playa Barra de Potosi

Due to the brillant sun, it was difficult to get good shots of the house, whose kitchen is outside, the structure to your right. This is the ramada, or porch, the owners watching television.

Here we see Irma, beloved host/ owner of Paradise Apartments, whose house this is, preparing lunch in the kitchen, a charming affair with it's hanging plates, a woodfire store -- the caretaker will show you how to cook in the traditional Mexican campesino manner! There is hot water, electricity, refrigerator,SKY television. Jesus and Irma will take you out and show you the ropes. Lala, a twenty-two year old Military Macaw is waiting for a hot tortilla.

There are two bedrooms, one with three double beds, and one with a king, connecting shower/bath. Sheets and towels provided. Each bedroom looks out onto the porch via sliding glass doors with screens, and out to the ocean. Curtains provide privacy. Dog included.

Walking back to the house midday in May, the month when foliage most dry and skies are not brilliant blue as rainy season soon will come.

Price: Very economical, depends on number of people and length or stay. This is a property for ecotourists, campers, people who like to rough it, or however you say it these days
